North and South Cyprus for the first time produced a joint movie
“Wound of Pomegranate” directed and produced by our member Can Sarvan, made a history as the first joint professional themed movie. Director of picture of the “Wound of Pomegranate” which’s script writers are EMAA members Gürkan Uluçhan and Can Sarvan is Nicos Avraamides. 9-day long filming of the “Wound of Pomegranate” assembled y Panicos Petrides, started in the middle of January in 2007. actor and actresses of the film are: Elli Kyriakidou, Buğra Gülsoy, Mehmet Özgür, Loukia Mechael, Popi Avraam, Özlem Özkaram, Cansev Günsoy, Kemal Tünay, George Sofocleous, Kyriakos Tofarides, Nicos Koromias, Kyriakos Chrisostomou, Yılsay Özbudak, Ertaç Hazer, Elena, Adreas Nikolaides, Soteres Mestanas, Christina Sklullu, Gülsen Dünki and Sunita Prilobo. Another actor is the trained wolfhound Tetra Levtraee who dragged attention with its terrific performance. Trainers of Tetra Ben Senova and Özgür Bağtaş of the Raben K9 Training Center spent great efforts during the filming.
While the consultant of the film, which’s premier will be held both in Turkish and Greek Cypriot sides, was Mehmet Ulubatlı, director of the Turkish Cypriot State Theatre,   art director was our member Hüseyin Özinal and the original music was composed by İlker Kaptanoğlu. While Kadir Kaba shot the photo for the film’s poster, its design belongs to our member Nilgün Güney.
It is stated that Can Sarvan following her first film, filmed in Cyprus, has already started works   for a first joint long film in Cyprus this year in March. The film will be based on a novel by Gürkan Uluçhan.
