GOAL:
EMAA Activity Centre (Capital Art Centre) is the result of an accepted application by EMAA together with its long-time partner the Cyprus Chamber of Fine Arts (E.KA.TE) to the EU grant programme aimed at improving the Turkish Cypriot civil society and increase the level of cooperation between the two communities of the island.
The goals of the project are briefly as follows:
*Increasing the dialogue between the two communities through artistic activities,
*Increasing the number of working and production environments where people will come together through art and which will encourage artistic dialogue and common production,
*Bringing and introducing contemporary art applications and techniques to the island and its people,
*Improving the connection between art and children and young people by increasing their contemporary art experiences,
*Supporting young artists and their efforts in the field of contemporary art,
*Enabling the Turkish Cypriot society and EMAA to have a living art center and institutionalize more effectively.
The Nicosia Turkish Municipality was the other supporter of the project and it provided a space and a building for EMAA’s use.
