If you're reading through the reviews and become too focused on the negative ones. Don't. As long as you know how to properly mount speakers of this caliber in your car, then these will arguably be the best speakers you can get. By this, I mean sound deadening. And good speaker adapters.
These are probably one of the nicest sounding car components I've had the pleasure of installing in my car. After breaking them in free-air for 48 hours, and then installing them on the abs adapters I installed in my vehicle. I was astonished.
They we're airy, spacious, and you can identify more instruments in tracks that you didn't even know were there before. The mid-bass performance, which is one of the largest selling point for the speaker is definitely prominent.
I did in fact open the passive crossovers and tweak the tweeters as I prefer a smoother sound, switching them to the -3db setting.
And to me, they sound perfect. It makes commuting an hour and half to the airport three times a week more of a thrill than it was with my previous set of speakers. I'm sure once I run them on an a/b class amplifier they will have more life in them. But currently I have them running off my pioneer dx975 and have been enjoying every musical second with them.
